Christian Pulisic has struggled to impress for Chelsea this season but he impressed for the Blues after coming off the bench to replace Willian against Ajax.

The American international provided the assist for Michy Batshuayi’s winner against Ajax and he was definitely the best player on the pitch after coming on.

Pulisic had revealed Chelsea boss Frank Lampard told him to make a difference against Ajax.

Pulisic said: “I was given another opportunity and the manager told me, ‘Go in, make an impact, make a difference’ and I’m happy I was able to help a little bit with that.”

He also revealed that Lampard praised him for a job well done after the match.

“He said ‘great job’ at the end, he was really happy I came on and made a difference,” Pulisic revealed.

The 21-year-old has now admitted that he won’t let his lack of game time bother him after being frustrated during the international break.

He went on: “I’m never going to let that put me down, not playing. I am going to keep fighting because this is where I want to be. I came here for a reason, I want to be here and make a difference. Whenever I get the opportunity I am going to keep working hard to do that.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has hailed Christian Pulisic as the player that made the difference for Chelsea against Ajax.

“They had to weather a few storms but they got there in the end,” Souness said.

“The longer the game went on they became more threatening. Pulisic comes on and he was the difference. Willian had a quiet night.

“I think they just about deserved their win. They’re no mugs they were playing. Ajax at home are a strong team.”
