Christian Pulisic has started just once in Chelsea’s last seven games, the 7-1 Carabao Cup victory over Grimsby.
Former USA international Alexi Lalas is not surprised by the struggles Christian Pulisic is having at Chelsea and he doubts Pulisic would be a regular starter at Chelsea in the next six months.
Lalas believes Pulisic would benefit from this in the long-term.
“He’s a phenomenon of a player who embodies our hopes and dreams as American soccer fans,” Lalas told FOX Sports.
“We think that when he thrives, it validates our belief in American soccer. I expect Christian to fight through it, but that might not mean he becomes a regular starter in the next six months.
“It’s important to realize what a unique situation Chelsea is in, with a new young coach … a big club going through a transition. Going through this battle might not be a bad thing for him long term, but it is challenging.”
