Frank Lampard’s Chelsea are beginning to click, and there are signs that the Blues will continue to tick which bodes well for the future.
After eight games played, Chelsea have climbed from the second half of the table to fifth spot, level on points with Leicester City in fourth and just two points behind second placed Manchester City.
According to The Athletic sources, Chelsea board are overall happy with Lampard’s reign, however the board is disappointed with just how poor the Blues defence has been.
Among the top half teams, Chelsea have the worst defence and the Blues have only kept one clean sheet in all competitions this season.
Frank Lampard’s side has conceded 14 goals in the league already this season, the fourth worst in the Premier League.
The Athletic claim that the one concern of the Chelsea board is related to the Blues’ defensive performance, and are worried as to how Lampard can boost the team’s poor defence. However, they are optimistic that the return of Antonio Rudiger will help the team’s defence.
Besides the defensive woes, the report claims Chelsea chiefs feel the club are ahead of schedule and the bosses are very impressed by the quality of football.
