Willian is currently in the final year of his contract with Chelsea, and the Brazilian hasn’t put pen to paper on a new deal.
Willian is proving that he’ll be an important player for the Blues this season and is already a key part of Frank Lampard’s squad.
Rumours claim that the Brazilian is close to signing a new contract, but Chelsea boss Frank Lampard played it down after the win over Lille.
Lampard told the media: “I have got no news on the Willian contract. That’s a conversation between Willy, his representatives and the club. Everyone can see I’m happy with Willy on the pitch.”
The 31-year-old’s contract winds up in 2020, and it will make him a free agent at the end of the season, meaning clubs can start talking to him in January.
Juventus are one of the clubs waiting to pounce on Willian, as the Old Lady are reportedly interested in signing the Brazilian for free and will tempt him with massive wages. This has been the strategy of the Old Lady, as they did with likes of Emre Can, Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot.
Willian has recently revealed that he wants to stay at Chelsea and that he loves it in London.
“From my side, I want to stay here,” Willian said. “I know I only have one year left but I feel good playing for Chelsea.
“I like playing for Chelsea. I have the affection with everybody, the fans, the people that work at the club.
“Maybe this will be at the end of the season. Now is not the time to think about it. I just want to play my football and to help the team this season.”
