Chelsea started the season with a heavy defeat to Manchester United back in August, as the Blues were beaten 4-0 by a rampant counterattacking Manchester United side.

Chelsea played well in that game but still lost heavily nevertheless, and Blues boss Frank Lampard praised his team for a good display afterwards. Lampard was bashed by pundits for hailing his side’s display, but the Blues are proving that their manager was right after all.

Since that defeat against United, Chelsea have won all the away games including a Champions League victory against Lille away at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

Chelsea have now recorded a 3-2 win away at Norwich, a 5-2 victory at Wolves and defeated  Southampton 4-1 on Sunday afternoon away at the St Mary’s Stadium.

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has revealed that the team took some positive notes from the defeat against United.

He said: “We look back at that [Man United] game and to lose 4-0 is not good but we took a lot of positives from the game and we did not think it was a 4-0,’ reckons Mount, speaking after the latest win.

“We bounced back and now we are in fifth position and we just need to keep working hard and hopefully we can get the three points every game.

“We have been playing well and having that big result in the Champions League, that really helped us out.

“It has been going well away from home. There are little things we can work on, like conceding [against Southampton] to go 2-1 which made it a tough period of the game, so there are things we can work on but away from home we have been very good.”
