There was injury scare for Chelsea boss Frank Lampard as four Chelsea players suffered injuries while away on international duty.
Andreas Christensen, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Reece James all picked up injuries while away on international duty.
Kovacic was fouled by Tottenham’s Ben Davies in the build-up to Gareth Bale’s goal with the midfielder limping off and failing to emerge for the second-half.
With injuries to Kante and Kovacic, Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley may get to start beside Jorginho in central midfield, and some Chelsea fans aren’t pleased.
However, Croatia head coach Zlatko Dalic has assured Kovacic is fine but insists the midfielder would need to be assessed.
Dalic said, according to The Sun: “He seems to be fine. He felt his knee in that challenge so we’ll see in the next few days what the diganosis is.”
Meanwhile, Ross Barkley showed just how valuable he can be after a five-star performance against Bulgaria where he bagged a brace and assisted a goal for the Three Lions.
