Former Chelsea boss Glenn Hoddle believes Tammy Abraham will be disappointed with Frank Lampard’s decision to hook him off during Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Ajax.
Abraham was withdrawn by Frank Lampard after 71 minutes, with his replacement Michy Batshuayi scoring the winner for Chelsea.
“He’s [Batshuayi] played his way into maybe the team, maybe the squad but you can rely on him, that’s what the manager knows now,” Hoddle told BT Sport.
“He’s got [Olivier] Giroud up his sleeve as well.
“But it could be also a good performance for Abraham.
“Because he’s sitting there now thinking, ‘I was disappointed at being taken off. He’s won the game for us.’
“He’s now got to elevate his game, he’s got to stay right at the top where he was.
“It’s all round been a fantastic night for Frank.”
