Just last season, Chelsea youngsters Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori were plying their trade in the Championship for Aston Villa and Derby County respectively.
However, it has been a season of wonders for the Chelsea academy products as Abraham and now Tomori have formed a core part of the Chelsea team.
The duo have now made Gareth Southgate’s England Three Lions squad for upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers.
For Tammy Abraham, it’s a return to the England senior team as he was last involved in a Three Lions squad two years ago when he made his debut as a starter against Germany at Wembley before coming off the bench in the meeting with Brazil four days later. For Tomori, it’s his first ever senior team call-up having represented England at Under-20 and Under-21 level.
Tammy Abraham qualifies to also play for Nigeria, and the Nigerian FA have been fighting to get him to feature for the Super Eagles, but may lose out on the 21-year-old if he features in any of the qualifying games.
Chelsea midfielders Ross Barkley and Mason Mount also got call-ups to the national team.
