Chelsea duo Reece James and Trevoh Chalobah have withdrawn from the England U21 squad because of injury.

James has recently just returned to action after missing preseason due to injury.

The FA have confirmed that England U21 boss Aidy Boothroyd will be without the players for the matches against Slovenia and Austria.

James shone while on loan at Wigan last season before returning to Stamford Bridge this season. He made his Chelsea debut in the 7-1 win over Grimsby, a game in which he scored and also grabbed two assists.

James also made his Champions League debut in the 2-1 win over Lille.

According to Goal, Chalobah’s withdrawal is precautionary but James is confirmed to be injured.

It remains to be seen how long James will be sidelined after his latest injury setback.
