Christian Pulisic has struggled to live up to expectations placed on him since his £58m move to Chelsea.
The 21-year-old had lost his place in the Chelsea team and his only start for the Blues in well over a month was in the Carabao Cup game against Grimsby Town.
Captain America as he’s fondly called has only started in five games for Chelsea in all competitions and his last start in the Premier League came in the 2-2 draw against Sheffield United back in August.
Pulisic’s form has now picked up drastically, and the American star has been the game changer for the Blues in the last two games.
Pulisic has got his mojo back, and US team coach Gregg Berhalter has hailed Lampard for properly handling his star player.
Speaking about Pulisic to the Daily Mirror, Berhalter said: “There’s a lot of pressure that he’s under. He’s at a big club. What I really like about where he is right now is that there’s a lot of young players.
“There’s a manager who is used to working with young players, has that philosophy who wants to build this club with this group of talent and he fits perfectly into that mould.
“I think Frank Lampard has been trying to say: the outside stuff is not real, it’s really not – when you analyse the transfer fee, when you analyse who he’s replacing, when you analyse he’s the only guy they bought.
“That’s not real. What’s real is this kid is in the Premier League, trying to make his name, trying to perform. That’s the only thing that counts.”
