After Chelsea’s 2-2 draw against Sheffield United in August, Christian Pulisic failed to make an appearance in the Premier League until the 4-1 win over Southampton early this month.

The American international didn’t even make the matchday squad for the 2-1 Champions League win over Lille early this month.

Pulisic came off the bench to provide the assist for Michy Batshuayi’s goal against Ajax and Chelsea boss Frank Lampard admitted he was impressed with the performance of the American international.

Lampard also suggested Pulisic has been getting chances lately because he has been impressing him in training.

Lampard on Pulisic: “The performance tonight and the last couple off the bench show what he has got.

“I understood the quality of Christian, he is just 21. I have options.

“Christian wants to know what is going on always. I have stayed calm with it.

“He wants to do well. Training like he has makes me very happy.”

Now, I can see that Pulisic needs not the bench; but off the bench.
