Three Chelsea players have been picked in a 50-man shortlist for UEFA team of the year. Cesar Azpilicueta, Jorginho and N’Golo Kante are the three players to have made the shortlist.
The Chelsea players made the cut especially after the Blues triumph in the Europa League last season. Chelsea beat Arsenal 4-1 in the Europa League final last season to become Europa League champions for a second time.
Former Chelsea star Eden Hazard also made the cut, but he has since left Chelsea to join Real Madrid during the summer transfer window. Hazard was named the best player in the Europa League last term.
Last year, only two Chelsea players made the team – Kante and Hazard, largely thanks to their performances at the World Cup in Russia.
The shortlist is dominated by Premier League stars as Liverpool have 10 players among the contenders, while Manchester City have 7. The winners will be announced in January.
