Chelsea and Ajax are tied to the top of the Champions League group H with six points apiece, and both sides are going to meet for the second leg at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, with Chelsea having defeated Ajax at the Johan Cruyff ArenA a fortnight ago.
Ajax were top class last season as they reached the Champions League semifinals playing swashbuckling football, and they nearly made it to the final but lost momentum late in the game against Tottenham.
The Dutch side are expected to make it to the knockout stages of the Champions League, but Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag has tried to put the pressure on Chelsea and insists that the Blues are not only the group favourites but one of the favourites for the competition.
He told reporters ahead of the game: “I can confirm they are one of the favourites but it will be a difficult game. Every game is difficult. We have big challenge, we’re looking forward to it but we have to play perfect and then we have a chance.”
Ten Hag was asked if he’s afraid of Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, but he admitted that the whole Chelsea team is a threat.
He said: “I think Chelsea is a very good team. They are in good shape, one a roll but Kante can even more improve this team. We will see and of course there are a lot of good players in this squad. We have to perform for ourselves to compete with them and beat them.”
