Arsenal legend Lee Dixon has criticised VAR for the decision to award a penalty to Watford against Chelsea.

According to Dixon, VAR is ruining football.

Dixon tweeted: “Ok. Never been a penalty in a thousand years. Come on people. VAR people. Get a grip. It’s ruining the game.”

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard was also not happy with VAR.

Lampard said: “Even with VAR, there is an element of the human involved because they are the ones who are checking it and it is slightly opinion.

“At the weekend we saw it flip slightly the other way from what it had been, with some decisions being changed, and hopefully we find the right middle ground as soon as possible. Looking at a monitor on the side of the pitch is a way forward.”

VAR is getting out of interest as we, fans, are becoming to lose trust and confidence in its findings. ex. potential goals ruled out, unworthy penalties given, cards, etc. If VAR decisions are to be decided, I strongly recommend the on-pitch screen availability that will allow the center ref to decide for himself.
