Chelsea will not be able to sign a player until the end of the season, and the Blues are so far coping under Frank Lampard.
The Chelsea youngsters introduced by Lampard are doing a great job, but a good blend of youth and experience is always vital to the success of a team.
Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic has previously been linked with a move to Chelsea, but the Croatia international wasn’t interested in a move at the time.
The £57million acquisition of Frenkie de Jong from Ajax, has seen the Croatian international fall down the midfield pecking order at the Nou Camp, but Rakitic still remains a valuable asset.
Rakitic has been one of Barcelona’s best performers since arriving from Sevilla in the summer of 2014, but the 31-year-old is now frustrated with his lack of playing time and is keen on leaving the Blaugrana.
“How does my little girl feel when her toy is taken away?” Rakitic pondered on Movistar’s ‘Universo Valdano’.
“Sad. I feel the same way. They have taken the ball away from me – I feel sad.”
“I understand and respect the decisions of the coach, a club or whatever,” Rakitic added.
“I have given so much in these five years that I have been at Barcelona and I want to continue enjoying [myself here].
“I’m 31, not 38, and I feel like I’m at my best.”
