Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has been appointed manager of rivals Tottenham.

Mourinho will be manager of Tottenham until 2023 after replacing Mauricio Pochettino, who was sacked by Tottenham on Tuesday.

Mourinho will face Chelsea as Tottenham Hotspur boss on 22 December when the Blues visit the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta has sent a message to the Portuguese.

“I can talk only when Jose was here at Chelsea with us,” Azpilicueta told Sky Sports.

“We won trophies, and now football moves on. I wish him all the best even though he goes to a rival. I have good memories with him and I have played many times under him and against him.

“Obviously when we play against each other we both want to win for our teams – but this is football. I wish him well.”

Azpilicueta featured under Mourinho for two years at Stamford Bridge, winning the Premier League title and League Cup together in the 2014/15 season, before Mourinho was axed the following season.
