According to Daily Star, Chelsea have joined Manchester United and Liverpool in the race to sign Wigan Athletic striker Joe Gelhardt.

Despite making only eight first team appearances for Wigan this season, the 17 year old striker has caught the attention of Chelsea.

Wigan are reportedly under no pressure to sell the young striker and are unlikely to sell the England under-18 captain in the January window.

Gelhardt joined Wigan at the age of 10 and made his first-team debut at just 16.

Wigan reportedly value the 17 year old striker at £5million.
