Chelsea midfielder Jorginho was forced to miss out on Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon, with the vice-captain having picked up his fifth yellow card in the previous game against Watford and was thus suspended for the visit of Palace.
Jorginho was central to all Chelsea has achieved this season and had played in all of our league games, dictating the team’s play from the middle of the park.
Chelsea legend Pat Nevin has admitted that he was worried about Jorginho’s absence in the game against Palace, but was surprised at how the team fared without the central midfielder.
Nevin wrote in his column for the official Chelsea website: “I will admit to being a little concerned beforehand, not by the team but because we were missing Jorginho against Palace at the weekend.
“Anyone I mentioned this to before the game had the same answer however – ‘N’Golo Kante is actually quite good as a central midfielder you know’. A fair point indeed that proved to be perfectly right.
“Jorginho just seems so central to everything but of course N’Golo and Mateo Kovacic were both excellent in that engine room as our suspended no.5 sat it out.”
