According to Daily Mail, Chelsea are set to begin contract renewal talks with defender Antonio Rudiger despite the fact he’s played just 45 minutes this season.
The German international has struggled with injuries this season and has played just 45 minutes this season – the first 45 minutes in the 5-2 win over Wolves.
Rudiger enters the final two years of his contact at the end of the season and the Blues want to head off any doubt over his long-term future by signing him to an extension.
With Manchester City and Tottenham expected to be in the market for a new central defender next summer, the report claims Chelsea want to accelerate Rudiger’s contract talks to avoid rivals clubs taking advantage of his contract length.
