Chelsea might have lost 2-1 to Manchester City on Saturday but several Chelsea players impressed.

Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic impressed against Manchester City. The Croatian’s 113 touches of the ball, 90 accurate passes and five successful dribbles (out of five) were all game-high figures. Kovacic also spent more time in possession (7.6 percent) than anyone on the pitch.

Chelsea had 11 shots on goal with two on target. Willian had a Chelsea-high four attempts, and Kante scored with one of his two. Eight of our shots were struck from inside the box.

Manchester City had 15 shots, four of which were on target and seven taken inside the box.

Of those players who started the game, Kovacic’s 95 per cent pass completion rate was bettered only by Manchester City’s Rodrigo (98 per cent).

Kante and Tammy Abraham made two key passes. Abraham also won three aerial duels.

Both teams won 15 tackles, with four players – Cesar Azpilicueta, Kovacic, David Silva and Fernandinho – successful with four apiece.

No player made more clearances (6) and interceptions (4) than Cesar Azpilicueta.
