Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso looks set to leave Chelsea in January after failing to travel with the team to Spain for the Champions League game against Valencia later today.

Alonso hasn’t featured for Chelsea since the 4-4 Champions League draw against Ajax and it is believed the Spaniard would leave Chelsea in January following his latest omission from the team.

Since the game against Ajax, Alonso has dropped to Chelsea’s third choice left-back with Lampard preferring to use Cesar Azpilicueta at left-back over the Spaniard.

The emergence of Reece James has also worsened Alonso’s plight at Chelsea with Lampard happy to use the teenager at right-back and Azpilicueta at left-back.

If the transfer ban is lifted and Chelsea are able to sign a new left-back in January, Alonso is certain to leave the club.
