Former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech had a great time under former boss Jose Mourinho and they won titles together including three Premier League titles.
Cech is now back at the club serving as technical and performance advisor, and the Chelsea legend has wished Mourinho well upon his appointment as Tottenham manager. In fact, Cech is glad to have one of the Premier League’s most successful managers back in the league.
“He’s a great manager,” said the former Chelsea goalkeeper, who played under Mourinho for all three of his title wins and is now technical and performance advisor at the club.
“Obviously it’s great for the Premier League to welcome back one of the most successful managers in the Premier League in the past 15 years. Obviously we wish him well.”
Meanwhile, Mourinho claimed back in 2015 that he would never manage Tottenham because of his history with Chelsea.
“Yes. I couldn’t go,” the Portuguese said in 2015.
“I couldn’t train in England for two years. I would not take the job because I love Chelsea supporters too much.”
Mourinho has now revealed that he broke his promise to Chelsea fans because he was sacked by the club.
Asked by a journalist: “When you were at Chelsea, you said you’d never come to Spurs – what changed?”
Mourinho responded: “Yes, that was before I was sacked!”
