Chelsea youth team defeated Tottenham 5-3 during the weekend, and the young Blues were already 4-0 up just after 20 minutes of play.

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has been a key player for the Blues this season as Frank Lampard has given opportunities to several Chelsea youngsters to impress.

Mount who came through the Chelsea academy has revealed that he had an eye on the academy game on Saturday before the senior team defeated Crystal Palace 2-0.

He told the official Chelsea website: “Even before the [Palace] game we were looking at the Under-18s score against Tottenham, we were all talking about it and they were 4-0 up after 20-something minutes,’ Mount revealed when talking after our Premier League success.

“We’re focused on our game, but we’re looking at all the Academy boys and what they’re doing because we were there not that long ago.”

The 20-year-old also revealed that the current youngsters in the first team still keep in touch with the club’s youth team players.

He added: “We always stay in contact with everyone and it feels like a proper club. We’re so close together, all the boys in the Academy and our young players in the first team, it’s really solid.”
