Chelsea boss Frank Lampard will still be sweating over the fitness of Christian Pulisic who suffered a hip injury in our last game before the international break – the 2-0 win against Crystal Palace.
Pulisic was forced to withdraw from international duty with the United States over the break due to the injury, and despite being given almost two weeks off to recover, the 21-year-old is still a doubt to feature in this weekend’s massive clash against Manchester City.
USA head coach Gregg Berhalter completely ruled out Pulisic from the United States team and gave quite a scary update on the winger’s injury.
“Christian is officially at this stage ruled out,” he said.
“We just got that information. This was a collaborative decision with the club looking after the best interest of the player.
“These decisions are always difficult because this group and the coaching staff want nothing more than to have Christian here, but it was a risk we weren’t willing to take at this time.”
Pulisic who remained in London showed his support to his national team-mates last week, prior to their 4-1 win on Saturday.
Pulisic’s skills will definitely be needed at the Etihad Stadium, and the American is in massive form and is the best dribbler in the Chelsea team.
According to the Premier League official website, Pulisic goes past an opponent more than three times on average per 90 minutes, with his 20 dribbles completed overall the second-most at Chelsea despite starting only six times.
