Frank Lampard’s former Chelsea teammate Glen Johnson has revealed his shock that Frank Lampard was given the Chelsea job.
Chelsea are always known to appoint experienced and seasoned managers, but Lampard had only a year’s coaching experience, as he managed Championship side Derby County last season.
However, Johnson went on to reveal that Lampard has always shown his coaching instinct as he spent time talking to coaches and on tactics during his playing days.
“Yeah he always had that coaching instinct, after games, talking to coaches, speaking tactics so I always thought he’d be a manager one day, definitely,” Johnson told Express Sport.
“I was surprised he was given the Chelsea job so soon but I thought he was definitely destined for it in the future.
“Having said that, it was the perfect time for him because of the transfer ban and they would have to give somebody time anyway, so it’s great to see him getting the job done.”
Lampard has so far exceeded everyone’s expectations as Chelsea are playing really good football and the Blues are winning games at will.
Chelsea are on a six-game winning streak in the Premier League and the Blues are currently third in the league.
