Jose Mourinho has now been appointed as the manager of Chelsea rival Tottenham eleven months after losing his job as Manchester United boss.
The Portuguese has now signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with Spurs after the surprise sacking of Mauricio Pochettino as Tottenham manager.
Meanwhile, former Chelsea player Craig Burley has backed Mourinho to fail in the north London club as he won’t be given the required funds to sign players at Tottenham.
“He’s going from the frying pan to the fire, here,” Burley said of Mourinho on ESPN FC.
“He was at Man Utd and even though they had the money, he couldn’t get Ed Woodward to spend enough of it on the right players.
“Mourinho’s frustration as that he couldn’t reel in the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool without the funds.
“Well guess what, the one criticism of Tottenham period has been that they haven’t spent the funds to match the big boys.
“What’s the point? Maybe Jose Mourinho going in there and going ‘hey, it’s the new me. No complaining and I’m going to work with what I’ve got.’ [will fix the problem].
“Eeerm, not happening.”
