Chelsea were worthy winners against struggling Watford as the Blues defeated the home side at the Vicarage Road 2-1 thanks to goals from Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic.

Abraham netted his ninth goal of the season – and seventh away from home – to open the scoring for Chelsea as he latched on to a sublime pass from Jorginho to beat Ben Foster just after five minutes.

Chelsea continued to press and press but Foster was having a good day in office and kept his team in the game till half-time.

Ten minutes after the restart, Tammy Abraham turned provider as he played a pass across Watford goal and Pulisic was at the right place and at the right time to beat Foster.

Watford pulled one back with little more than 10 minutes of normal time remaining, with Jorginho adjudged to have fouled Gerard Deulofeu in the penalty box following a check from VAR.

Watford’s late goal gave the game a tense ending and Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga made a brilliant save at the last gasp to deny Foster and give Chelsea a deserved victory.

Chelsea have a great form away from home and the win was Chelsea’s 7th away win of the season – and it’s the first time the Blues have won seven consecutive away matches since 1989.

Chelsea have beaten Norwich, Wolves, Lille, Southampton, Ajax and Burnley in that run but will have to defeat reigning Premier League champions Manchester City if they are to break the record.

Up next for Chelsea are two home games against Crystal Palace and Ajax, and Chelsea’s next away game comes at the Etihad Stadium with a massive clash against Manchester City after the international break.
