Just last season, Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount was playing for Championship side Derby County as the young midfielder was on loan with the Championship outfit coached by Frank Lampard.
Mount impressed for Frank Lampard while playing in the Championship last season, and Lampard decided to give the young midfielder a chance at Chelsea, and it’s one that he has grabbed with both hands.
Mount has impressed for the Blues this season and is a key player for Frank Lampard’s side.
Speaking ahead of the Champions League game against Ajax, Mount was asked how it has been for him making the switch from the Championship to playing Champions League football within a year.
“I was always ready,” Mount told the media in a press conference at Cobham on Monday afternoon.
“I’ve been at the club for a very long time so you’ve got to have belief in yourself and be ready for that opportunity.
“It probably did come a bit earlier than I expected but I was ready and so fully focused on taking my opportunity and trying to play well. It’s been brilliant and I’m loving every moment of it.”
