Manchester City only had 47 percent possession in their 2-1 victory over Chelsea on Saturday at the Etihad.
It was the first time a team managed by Pep Guardiola have had the lesser possession in a game.
When asked about his team having the lesser possession for the first time, Guardiola responded: “There is always one thing in your lifetime that hasn’t happened.
“So, OK, I have another record, I won one game without possession. They are an incredible team with Kante, Kovacic, Jorginho, so it can happen.”
Guardiola added: “It’s Chelsea. When you see in the last 20 years, Chelsea aren’t a bad side. The last six or seven years City won more titles but before that, it was Manchester United and Chelsea – they were the best.
“Before teams were just defending and use the counter-attack, now teams have the courage to use young managers, they have players with spirit, nothing to lose and they go forward, play football that is nice.”
