Chelsea striker Ike Ugbo is currently in top form for Dutch second division club Roda JC. Having enjoyed loan spells in the Championship and League One, Ugbo is now proving himself in the Netherlands second division.

The 21-year-old has scored 43% of the goals for his loan club and have hit the net 8 times in 14 league games, assisting one goal as well.

Ugbo is watching what his academy mates are doing in the Chelsea team, and he has vowed to come back to the club and fight for a spot in the team.

He said in an interview with the official Chelsea website: “I’m really pleased for them, especially because a lot of people didn’t really expect them to do as well as this. They’ve taken their opportunities and have shown the qualities they have so it’s something for me to look up to as well.

“All I can do is just work hard and show my qualities. Hopefully that is good enough and obviously my aim is to come back to Chelsea and work my way into the squad as well.”

Ugbo also revealed that he’s enjoying his loan spell in the Netherlands.

He said: “I’m really enjoying it. I feel like it’s one of the best starts I’ve had to a loan and you can see that with my performances and goals.”
