The in-form Christian Pulisic has become an important player for the Blues lately after a slow start to life at Chelsea.
The American scored his fifth goal for Chelsea to help the Blues secure a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.
Christian Pulisic headed into the last international break in poor form as he wasn’t part of Frank Lampard’s team and even broke down as he was subbed off in the United States 2-0 defeat to Canada. But this time around, Pulisic will head into the last international break of the year in impeccable form after a wonderful month where he has impressed in every game he has played.
After sealing Chelsea’s victory with a 79th minute goal, Pulisic became the fourth American player in the Premier League history to score in three consecutive matches.
Lampard will be hoping that the 21-year-old gets a rest while on international duty after a month of football that has seen him reach a high level, especially with the Blues set to play against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium just after the break.
Lampard confirmed after the game that the American international picked up a hip injury in the victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Confirming Pulisic’s injury, Lampard said: “The only frustration is that he comes off with a bit of a hip injury.
“He was going to get subbed before he scored his goal. He’s got a bit of a hip issue. But I’m hoping it’s not too bad because the way he’s in full flow at the moment is great to see.”
