Chelsea and Valencia are currently tied to the same spot with eight points apiece with Ajax topping the group with 10 points.
However, Chelsea still have a good chance of qualifying as all the Blues need is to beat Lille and will at least qualify as second in the group.
Chelsea host Lille at Stamford Bridge on the 10th of December, and Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic has warned his side that they shouldn’t underrate the French side who are bottom of the table with just one point to show.
“It won’t be easy,” stressed Kovacic.
“In the Champions League there are no easy games, but it’s important it’s in our hands. We need to win at home in front of our fans and I hope we will do it.”
After the game against Valencia, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard admitted that the Blues must give away fewer opportunities and convert more of our own chances following the 2-2 draw.
“We nearly won it, nearly lost it. It was end to end, not that we wanted it to be,” Lampard told BT Sport.
“It’s difficult to come here, I know that from coming here as a player. When the atmosphere turns, sometimes you’re hanging on, but it keeps it in our hands.
“Parts of our performance I’m not mad on. We gave away too many chances. We missed a lot as well. That’s something we’re doing a lot of at the minute – not putting our chances away.
“But you can’t turn away from fact they had a lot of chances. They were arriving in our box too much.
“Credit to the players for their work-rate and hanging on in there, but sometimes you have to be more secure than that.”
