Chelsea could easily have beaten Watford by a huge margin but Ben Foster was in good form for the home side as they held Chelsea down for bulk of the game.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard had to endure a nervy ending to a game that his side has completely dominated after VAR ruled a penalty in Watford’s favour which was then converted by Gerard Deulofeu.
The last ten minutes of the game was uncomfortable for Lampard and every Chelsea fan, and the goal came as a result of some cocky play at the back. The Chelsea players were enjoying themselves at the back before Jorginho lost it and then conceded a penalty.
Lampard hailed his players for a good performance but, the Chelsea boss also blasted Jorginho and the players involved in that cheeky play at the back that cost the team.
“We played really well, our midfield was outstanding, but we just cannot have that sloppy bit near the end,” he said after the final whistle.
“It was a terrible 10 minutes considering how the game had gone. We need to be more clinical, we got a bit sloppy.
“We rely on our goalkeeper for those moments at the end of the game and he did what we needed him to do. I am happy with how the players are playing. It’s great to watch.”
