Chelsea have suffered the most from VAR decisions in the Premier League this season and the Blues were on the receiving end again today as the VAR ruled in favour of a Watford penalty late in the game.
Chelsea were comfortably leading the game 2-0 when Watford pulled one back with little more than 10 minutes of normal time remaining, with Jorginho adjudged to have fouled Gerard Deulofeu in the penalty box following a check from VAR.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard seemed to be disappointed with the decision to give Watford a penalty and didn’t hold back from blasting the decision after the game.
“I can’t believe this has been overturned, personally,” he told Sky Sports.
“You can say there’s a tiny little touch there but it’s one of those – I’ve sat at the managers’ meeting a couple of days ago and the chat was that things that are not clear and obvious are not going to be overturned.
“It seemed last week we flipped the other way, there was a lot of overturning and for me that is certainly not a clear and obvious mistake. I didn’t get that one.”
