It was a mind-blowing game between Chelsea and Ajax, as both teams played out a 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge. This game had everything from VAR drama to penalties, own goals, red cards and exhilarating attacking play. At the end, Chelsea came back from 4-1 to draw the game 4-4.
Eight goals, two goals disallowed, two penalties and two red cards – there was no shortage of incident, and Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has admitted his shock that only four minutes were added on in the second half.
Everyone was expecting at least seven minutes of added time, but the officials deemed it fit to add only four.
Lampard admitted after the game that he was expecting ten minutes to be added to the game due to all the incidents that happened.
Lampard was clearly baffled by the decision and admitted he didn’t expect the time that was shown.
“That was incredible. You have to be careful with the refs and what you say to them because they’ll tell you to go inside,” he said to BT Sport.
“I think the actual double red card and penalty felt like four minutes on it’s own, then there is the goals and another VAR incident, so I was expecting somewhere towards 10, maybe eight, so I just don’t know where it came from.”
