Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been sidelined since May as he hasn’t played for the Blues ever since suffering the injury that made him miss out of the Europa League final after a good run of form towards the end of last season.
Loftus-Cheek is also expected to play a huge role for the Blues under Frank Lampard this season, but is still about a month away from recovering from an Achilles tendon injury.
Chelsea boss Frank Lampard gave an update in his press conference today that Loftus-Cheek will most likely return to action next month.
“It’s a long road, and it’s a difficult one for Ruben,” Lampard explained.
“He’s obviously keen, we all want him back, we know his quality but it’s going to be a while. I feel for him because people ask and the thing to say is I’m really pushing on, it might be next week, it might be next month, I don’t think that’s quite the case.
“We’re all supporting him here, but there’s no immediate news.”
Loftus-Cheek has recently revealed that he was disappointed to have missed the Europa League final after playing in 11 games leading to the final and scoring four goals.
“That one hurt me, man,” Loftus-Cheek said in an interview with Versus.
“To be a part of that campaign all the way through and play my most minutes in that competition, only to miss out on the final, was devastating but I have to move on, I can’t wait to come back stronger.”
