From Frank Lampard’s playing days, one thing was paramount – his desire to be the best.
Lampard has a winning mentality and tried to succeed at everything. Little wonder why he remained a key player for Chelsea before and after the money invasion of Chelsea billionaire owner Roman Abramovich.
Now as manager, Lampard is even more demanding and wants more from his young Chelsea side. The Blues have won eight of their last nine games and their last five league matches, but Lampard wants more from his side.
According to the Chelsea boss, the only reason his team haven’t reached perfection yet is because of the rebuilding work he’s doing where he is merging young players with experienced players, and he admits it will take time.
“Maybe it’s football, I don’t know,” he said. “You look at the results this weekend. Liverpool go away and they’re behind for a long time in the game, Man City as well, so maybe I’m being a bit demanding.
“You have to respect the opponent and it’s not always as easy as it is, football is always a work in progress. We have young players that have been out on loan and come in and worked with the senior players, so there’s an element where things will always take a little bit of time to get where you want them to get to.”
