Chelsea boss Frank Lampard ruined a record held by Cesar Azpilicueta when he dropped the Spaniard for the game against Crystal Palace.

Prior to the game against Crystal Palace, Azpilicueta had started each of Chelsea’s last 73 Premier League games dating back to December 2017 against Newcastle United.

It was the longest current run of any outfield player but that brilliant run came to a halt after Lampard started Reece James against Crystal Palace.

Lampard definitely didn’t regret ruining Azpilicueta’s record to hand James his first Premier League start as the 19 year old right-back impressed against Crystal Palace.

James had a good game against Crystal Palace star man Wilfried Zaha, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea.
