Frank Lampard has a poor record against the top teams as he has failed to win any top side in the Premier League this season.

Chelsea have faced Manchester United and Liverpool in the Premier League this season, and the Blues lost both games. Chelsea suffered a 4-0 defeat to United in our first game of the season, while Frank Lampard’s side were also beaten by league leaders Liverpool 2-1.

In the cup competitions, Chelsea weren’t able to get a win as well, as the Blues lost out to Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup howbeit on penalties, and Chelsea were also beaten by Manchester United 2-1 in the Carabao Cup fourth round.

Chelsea face Manchester City on Saturday, and Frank Lampard has defended his side’s performance against the so-called top teams.

Lampard told reporters ahead of City clash: “Liverpool twice we’ve gone pound for pound with them and lost unfortunately and to a degree because they were very tight matches.

“Manchester United in the first game we put in a pretty good performance but the harsh reality was we got beat and the League Cup match we changed five or six players so in all those so-called tougher games we’ve performed pretty well without the result we might have got.”
