Mason Mount has shrugged off comments from his former teammate at Vitesse, Mitchell van Bergen, suggesting he will leave Chelsea for Real Madrid or Barcelona in the near future.
Mount’s first loan spell away from Chelsea was at Dutch Eredivisie club Vitesse where he scored an impressive 14 goals in just 30 start across all competitions.
Mount then impressed on loan the following season at Derby County before becoming an important player at Chelsea this season.
Responding to Van Bergen’s comment suggesting he would leave Chelsea for Real Madrid or Barcelona in future, Mount said: “I saw what Mitchell said.
“I’m obviously very close to him – we had a very close bond. He’s a brilliant player.
“But my focus is on Chelsea and this is my first year, so I don’t look too far ahead.
“My focus is on the next game, that’s kind of how far I look ahead.”
Mount signed a new five-year contract at Chelsea in the summer after returning from his loan spell with Derby.
