Former Chelsea midfielder Mikel John Obi has named former Blues fan favourite Eden Hazard as his laziest player at Chelsea, revealing that the Belgian did not always put in much effort when it came to training.

Mikel played with Hazard at Stamford Bridge between 2012 and 2017 before he moved to Chinese side Tianjin Teda in 2017. After a short spell at Middlesbrough last season, he’s currently with Turkish side Trabzonspor.

Mikel has been dishing the dirt on his old teammates on BeIN Sports and he admitted that Hazard was his laziest Chelsea teammate but was extraordinary on a match day.

“The laziest player I’ve ever worked with is Eden Hazard,” Mikel told BeIN Sports.

The Trabzonspor midfielder also told beIN Sports in Turkey:

“Hazard has an incredible talent, Maybe not as good as [Lionel] Messi, but he can do whatever he wants with the ball at his feet.

“He didn’t like to train hard. While we were working he was waiting for us to finish training just standing there. But on Sundays he was always man of the match, it was unbelievable.”
