Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was appointed Tottenham boss on a three-year contract on Wednesday, replacing the sacked Mauricio Pochettino.
Back in 2015, Mourinho claimed he would never manage Tottenham because of his history with Chelsea.
“Yes. I couldn’t go,” the Portuguese said in 2015.
“I couldn’t train in England for two years. I would not take the job because I love Chelsea supporters too much.”
Mourinho has now explained why he broke his promise to Chelsea fans not to accept the Tottenham job.
According to Mourinho, he broke his promise to Chelsea fans because he was sacked by Chelsea.
Asked by a journalist: “When you were at Chelsea, you said you’d never come to Spurs – what changed?”
Mourinho responded: “Yes, that was before I was sacked!”
