The target for Chelsea and Blues boss Frank Lampard this season is to try and achieve a top four finish. In fact, there was no pressure on a top four finish for Lampard due to the lack of transfers and the loss of star man Eden Hazard. Indeed, it was supposed to be a rebuilding season for Chelsea under Lampard.

Surprisingly, the Blues are pushing above their shoulders under Lampard as the Chelsea manager has put together a very young team who are playing amazingly well and have now won their last six league games.

After the 2-0 win against Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea temporarily rose to second in the league and just five points behind Liverpool pending their Sunday clash with Manchester City.

Speaking after the game, the in-form Christian Pulisic hinted that the Blues should be pushing for a place at the top of the league.

Pulisic told reporters post-match: “I just got in the box and luckily the ball just bounced right to me and that helped us a lot, but I think we deserved it in the end. We had a lot of chances and we should’ve scored [more] but it was a good result in the end.

“The first half, we were dominating but we just couldn’t get the goal. We just stuck with it and eventually Tammy got the other one and in the end, it was a good result.

“Not bad at all [being second in the Premier League]. We want to be right up there at the top so we’ll just keep going.”
