Christian Pulisic followed his hat-trick against Burnley with another goal in Chelsea’s 2-1 victory over Watford on Saturday.
Pulisic’s form has kept Callum Hudson-Odoi out of the starting XI in Chelsea’s last two Premier League games.
ESPN pundit Alejandro Moreno has warned Pulisic that he needs to maintain his recent good form otherwise he will lose his place in the starting XI to Hudson-Odoi
When asked if Pulisic deserved to be the first name on the team sheet, Moreno told ESPN: “No.”
“The same way that he had to work his way back into being a starter for this team, that’s the same thing Hudson-Odoi is trying to do.
“All it takes is one under-willing performance from Pulisic and a good week of training by Callum Hudson-Odoi, for Hudson-Odoi to get a chance.
“That’s how this works. There are very few players who get a chance to play, no matter what happens, no matter how poor they’ve been.
“We’re not quite there with Christian Pulisic.
“It’s great that he’s playing as well as he is, it’s great he’s making runs into the box, reading passes, cutting inside and scoring goals, it’s great that he scored a hat-trick last week. He needs to keep it going.
“Mason Mount is going to keep playing in the centre because he’s been playing well, Willian is going to play on the right.
“Now, the numbers are getting short, so Hudson-Odoi is on the bench saying ‘when I get my chance, I’m going to do what Pulisic did.’
“That’s competition, it’s competition at the highest level and it makes Chelsea a good team.”
