Chelsea were on a six-game winning streak in the Premier League which was ended on Saturday as the Blues were defeated 2-1 by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

Chelsea had a good game against the Premier League reigning champions, and Valencia boss Albert Celades has revealed that he had an eye on that game.

Chelsea might have been beaten by City but Celades was impressed with the performance of the Blues and hailed Frank Lampard’s side as one of the best teams in Europe.

“Chelsea have very good players, not two or three, a lot of good players,” he said.

“They play with big intensity and I think at the moment they are one of the best in Europe. They are playing very well. Watching the game against Manchester City you can understand the things they can do… we need to be at our best to beat Chelsea.”

Chelsea bossed City for possession at the Etihad Stadium, and City boss Pep Guardiola was full of praise for the Chelsea team.

Pep Guardiola said: “Yes, Chelsea are so good. They are an incredible team. It’s Chelsea. Football is becoming like this.

“Most teams and young managers have spirit and nothing to lose. That’s why the football is nice. Chelsea are playing incredibly well.

“It makes Mr Abramovich very happy, because he is very interested in the academy. I would guess he’s one of the very few owners that have been to lots of academy matches.”
