It was a fifth successive league victory for Frank Lampard’s side, and Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster hailed the quality of Chelsea’s young players.
Blues boss Frank Lampard has brought in a number of young academy graduates into the Chelsea team, and the young stars have been excellent for the team.
Foster has now revealed that Watford manager Quique Sánchez Flores warned them about the Chelsea youngsters, likening them to young kids who will play with them if they leave the gate open.
“They were a very good team,” Foster said on Sky Sports. “Fair play to them: they’re young, energetic.
“Our manager told us before the game that they are like kids in the playground. If they’re in the playground and the gates are open, then they will run free.
“You need to shut the fences, you need to shut the doors. I don’t think we did that at times today, which was a bit disappointing.”
Indeed Watford were lucky to have lost by a slim margin; it was a Chelsea onslaught.
