It was a thrilling game between Chelsea and Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium as the two sides played out a 2-2 draw in what was an all attacking game.

Valencia had gone ahead through Carlos Soler in the 40th minute, but Mateo Kovacic equalised a minute later. Christian Pulisic scored five minutes after the restart to put Chelsea in front, but a late Valencia goal sealed a 2-2 draw for both sides.

Former Chelsea star Joe Cole has now revealed that while Blues boss Frank Lampard must have been pleased with his team’s performance, there are certain aspects of the game that displeased him.

“He’ll be disappointed with elements of the performance,” said Cole.

“He’ll be happy with Kovacic, the midfield did okay at times, but it was a little bit fractious at times at the back.

“He will be delighted with, first and foremost, the result because a draw at Valencia is a very good result but he’ll know there are still improvements to be made and that’s to be expected from a young manager and a young team.

“Everything they’re doing at the moment is great but there are still improvements to be made.”
