Every Chelsea fan will be proud of Willian’s loyalty to the Chelsea badge since he signed up for club in 2013.

Even this season, Willian has been one of Chelsea’s best performers, and the Brazilian has put in unimaginable performances this season. The Brazilian is working hard to keep his shirt having worked to get it in the first place and he’s a good role model to the Chelsea young guns.

But then, his contract extension has taken too long, and Chelsea might just lose a talented and effective 31-year-old who will draw attention from many top clubs at the end of the season, including Barcelona.

Chelsea have less than seven weeks to sort out Willian’s contract as the Brazilian will be free to speak to foreign clubs from January.

According to The Sun, the Brazil winger has reportedly told pals he will “slow down” his Stamford Bridge renewal talks as he knows Barca are keen to sign him. Willian has always been keen to stay at the club but hasn’t been offered a two-year deal before now. At some point, there were hesitation in giving him a deal even when the likes of Pedro and Olivier Giroud enjoyed contract extensions.

Willian will be able to talk to Nou Camp chiefs in January and sign a pre-contract just six months before his Blues deal finishes.

But after clocking up more than 330 appearances for Chelsea since 2013 and repeatedly refusing to join Barcelona and scoring over 50 goals for Chelsea, there is a strong possibility he will depart this summer for Spain.

Frank Lampard has admitted that he wants the Brazilian to stay, but the ball is now in Chelsea’s court.
