Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic signed a new deal during the summer with Chelsea until 2022.

According to reports, Atalanta will take up their option to buy Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic at the end of the season.

Pasalic joined Atalanta on loan in the summer for the second consecutive season and has impressed in the Serie A with his loan club.

The Croatian midfielder joined Chelsea from Hadjuk Split in 2014 for £3 million but is yet to make a competitive appearance for Chelsea.

Meanwhile, he could now leave the club for a meagre €15m (£12.7m) fee.

The 24-year-old has been enjoying his time in the Serie A as he netted twice as Atalanta easily beat Brescia 3-0 away from home on Saturday. They were the Croatian’s third and fourth goals of the season. His first was a close-range header, his second a cute, improvised backflick from a low cross. Pasalic also hit the inside of the post with a looping header between those goals.

The Chelsea loanee came on from the bench last week to score a crucial equaliser against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the Champions League.

However, Pasalic did reveal last season that he wanted to stay in one place after numerous loan spells away from Chelsea. But £12.7m might just seem too little for his quality.
