Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta played against Mikel Arteta when he was an Arsenal player, and now the former Gunners midfielder has been made the manager of Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta’s second game as Arsenal boss will be against Frank Lampard’s Chelsea at the Emirates this weekend as the Gunners drew 1-1 away at Bournemouth on Boxing Day.

Azpilicueta is now ready to go against his compatriot who is in charge of Arsenal and has revealed that the Blues must go to the Emirates and get a victory.

“I never played with him,” Azpilicueta said. “I know him because he is Spanish and played for Arsenal but I don’t have any special relationship with him.

“He was in [Pep] Guardiola’s staff [at Manchester City] and for them it’s a new beginning and a new coach but for us it’s a massive game.

“It’s a derby and we need to bounce back after this disappointing afternoon [against Southampton].”
